Print Post art esprit: monotyping

Although I love gocco, I can’t help but be even more impressed by these monotyped prints by Art Esprit. Not only are they perfectly colored (baby blues and reds and whites, oh my!), they’re absolutely one-of-a-kind due to the unique qualities of the monotyping process. For the uninitiated, think of monotyping as a hardcore version of gocco, where the first impression is generally your last: in short, true, one-of-a-kind art.

Art Esprit also creates monotypes on wooden blocks; I really like that these are quite a bit more colorful, frenetic, and tangible than her paper originals. Coupled with the guaranteed uniqueness of the wood grain, I find these to be quite a bit more collectible; they’re even primed and sealed with a UV protecting coat for longevity. If you’d like to see more of Art Esprit’s monotype work, please visit their shop here!
