dream a little with dara dunn

Bugs don’t usually ring up the rosiest of memories with me, but if they’re anything like these sweet little dolls by Dara Dunn, I’m all for ‘em! Despite their itty bitty size, there are plenty of details worked into each one of her creations, so much so that you can’t help but marvel at how well put together they are.
Standing a mere 1.5″ tall, Dara’s little bugs are made from wire which is wrapped in cotton floss. The belly and wings are made from felted wool, with a wood bead head and wire antennas at the tippy top.

There are two pleasant surprises here: first, her dolls are poseable; secondly, they’re extra sturdy as they are meant to be played with–even the wings are very securely stitched into the body. It’s always refreshing to know that so much effort has gone into something so small.

Please note that Dara’s Etsy shop, Dream A Little, is currently empty as she sells these far faster than she can make them. In the meantime you can visit her main website where she shows many, many more things she’s made; most of them are tiny figures but include creatures such as fairies, bumblebees and butterflies. Dara’s even created absolutely enchanting play sets; my favorite is her Blossom Hut & Juicy Bugs Set, with little bugs enjoying a smoothie outside and a hut with a removable roof. Too cute!

Absolutely gorgeous, I love these. The little seats by the hut are just so cute.
