I really love these vintage birds by Anisa at Makool. Everything from the way she sews and coordinates beautiful pieces of vintage fabric to the skinny wiry legs gives these birds a very artistic, yet quirky style that I’d love to have in my home. Every bird comes with its own unique personality; for example:

Beth is an esthetician she works at a popular spa here in Portland. She asked us not to say which one. In the summer, Beth likes to make jam. This sweet little bird is made from a combination of new fabric and vintage embroidered fabric.

Cake is a sweet little bird. She’s a professional dog walker, who collects fiesta ware. Cake is made from vintage and new cotton fabric.

But my favorite by far has to be Clarissa, whose head is occasionally stuck in a paper bag:

When I found Clarissa she had her head stuck in a paper bag. I helped her get it off and now she’s ready to come to live with you. She’s made of vintage fabric and has a hand felted scarf. Clarissa stands 8 inches tall and comes with her paper bag.

Anisa definitely radiates a fun, creative energy; maybe it comes from living in indie-friendly Portland. Her carnival-themed handbags conjure up nostalgic childhood memories of carefree innocence (that mime photograph makes me laugh every time!).

In addition to birds and handbags, I also love these custom tops and tees, made from soft and stretchy Modal. Also available is this fun western-themed shirt for men: check out that Cootie Catcher patch on the back: too cute! I really encourage you to stop by her shop, and at the very least swing by her blog, Makool Loves You. We love you too, Anisa!
