Print Post tara robertson pottery

Tara Robertson seems to lead an ideal life as a stay-at-home-mom: inspired by her little girl, numerous houseplants and the hills around her home, she crafts what can only be described as exquisite pottery from her home studio. She builds her pieces from long coils and slabs of clay, pinches them together and then applies a glaze; Tara has even been generous enough to offer up her glaze recipes here (I just love the way “Wunderlich’s Simple Slip” sounds!).

Although Tara has divided her work into several categories including Leaf, Everyday and Personality pottery, I find all of her work (including the Everyday pieces) to be artisanal in quality. Her Leaf pieces, for example, are meticulously detailed down to the individual veins of the leaves, while her cute Personality Pots are literally imbued with emotions ranging from inquisitive to cheeky.

I’m most fond of her Sculptural vessels, which beautifully portray the sanctity and intimacy of mother and child relationships. I can make out a watchful parent standing guard while a baby chick nestles within the folds of its wings, although your own interpretation may vary. Many of Tara’s pieces are quite affordable, and even her more expensive pieces are worthy additions to any collection due to their quality; for more information, visit her homepage here, or jump straight to her Etsy shop here!

  2. Wow! Thank you so much for the beautiful feature. I’m very flattered. I just discovered your blog by accident today but I can see I’m going to become an addicted browser :)
    Thanks again,
