Print Post tyler bender’s vintage journals

When I was younger, I would generally eschew older books for those with flashier, more snazzily designed dust jackets. How times have changed: I really love Tyler Bender’s vintage journals for exactly the opposite reason. From simple, monotone covers to books adorned with retro imagery, each one is recycled from actual books.

You’re not just buying chopped-up old books, of course; Tyler meticulously reinforces and resizes each cover and fills them with assorted hand-cut pages. You’ll find lined, printed and plain paper inside, whose dynamic nature means instant inspiration for artists and writers. I’m really hankering to pick up a few of these myself as they’re definitely a labor of love.

PS - to those of you who were curious about where Tyler went (his Etsy shop has been closed), he recently contacted me, and is indeed alive and well! Tyler has decided to focus on craft shows for the time being. In fact, he’s given me permission to post his holiday schedule; please do stop by and say hello to him if you plan on attending!

  1. I love the vintage and recycle-ness of these books! I’ll definitely be keeping them in mind for my next journal.

  2. I never thought I would drool over a stationary item. These give me a bad case of the gimmies.

  3. What an excellent idea! Every page has its own style. No matter what you write or doodle in there, the pages are going to look pretty!
