Ivan and Lucy make some of the most elaborate bags and pillows I’ve seen in awhile. The furthest most totes go is to use contrasting fabrics, but Ivan and Lucy take this a step (or two, or three) further: starting with vintage fabrics, they then apply art appliqués (here’s one with the Mona Lisa), antique buttons and Czech glass.

For some, these knicknacks may be one step shy of gaudy, but I think many of their pieces are actually well coordinated and quite artistic. Even if you’re a minimalist who eschews clutter, you have to admit that it takes real guts to put typewriter keys (yes, QWERTY) on your pillow. My sincerest compliments to Ivan and Lucy–I think their work is gorgeous!
